The Vermentino grape, renowned for its quality, finds its most celebrated expression in the DOCG Vermentino di Gallura, produced in the northern province of Olbia-Tempio on the picturesque island of Sardinia. La Neula estate is located in the very heart of this region, where the grape has been cultivated for centuries under the local name of Arratelau.

Recent archaeological discoveries have revealed that viticulture has been thriving in Sardinia for much longer than previously believed. Experts in the field have confirmed that the oldest wine in the Western Mediterranean was produced in Sardinia over three thousand years ago, a type of Cannonau grape that continues to grow on the island today. In fact, researchers have even hypothesized that Cannonau may actually be the original Grenache, the grape variety that has played a crucial role in some of the world's most renowned wines like Châteauneuf du Pape or Priorat.
